Intermediate First Aid Training in Surrey

The OFA Level 2 (now officially called Intermediate First Aid) is a WorkSafeBC mandated certification required for first aid attendants in medium-to-high-risk workplaces across British Columbia.

Whether you're working in construction, manufacturing, forestry, or any high-hazard environment — OFA Level 2 certification qualifies you to act as the designated workplace first aid attendant for up to 50 workers.

What is OFA Level 2 and why do I need it?
OFA Level 2 (Intermediate First Aid) is a WorkSafeBC mandated certification for first aid attendants at medium and high-hazard workplaces in BC. It qualifies you to provide first aid to up to 50 workers. Employers are legally required to have a certified OFA Level 2 attendant on site during working hours.
How long is the OFA Level 2 course in Surrey?
The OFA Level 2 course is 40 hours of instruction. Mainland Safety offers both weekday options (full-time over one week) and weekend options (part-time over several weekends) to fit your schedule.
How long is OFA Level 2 certification valid?
Your OFA Level 2 certificate is valid for 3 years. After that you'll need to complete a renewal course to maintain your certification. Mainland Safety offers recertification options as well.
What is the difference between OFA Level 1, 2 and 3?
OFA Level 1 (Basic First Aid) is for low-hazard workplaces and covers basic emergency response. OFA Level 2 (Intermediate) is for medium-to-high-hazard workplaces and covers more comprehensive assessment and treatment skills. OFA Level 3 (Advanced) is an 80-hour program for high-hazard workplaces with larger crews or remote locations.
Is OFA Level 2 the same as Intermediate First Aid?
Yes — OFA Level 2 is the older name. WorkSafeBC officially renamed it Intermediate First Aid. The certification, content, and requirements are identical. You may see both names used interchangeably on job postings and WorkSafeBC regulations.
What do I need to bring to the OFA Level 2 course?

Is there a written exam for OFA Level 2?
Yes. The OFA Level 2 course includes both written assessments and practical skills evaluations. Students must demonstrate competency in hands-on scenarios as well as pass a written knowledge test. Our instructors provide thorough preparation throughout the course.
